1996 brachten Drehbuchautor Kevin Williamson und Regisseur Wes Craven mit »Scream« eine der prägendsten Horrorfilmreihen überhaupt ins Kino.
Für die Musik holten sie den damals noch wenig bekannten Komponisten Marco Beltrami ins Team.

Beltrami arbeitete mit avantgardistischen Orchestertechniken und traf damit genau den Ton aus Spannung und Schrecken, der die Reihe bis heute prägt.
Stücke wie »The Cue From Hell« und »Chasing Sidney« zeigen, wie viel Nervenkitzel in dieser Partitur steckt.

Zum 30. Jubiläum legt Varèse Sarabande den Score als Sammler-LP neu auf.
Die Platte ist aus rotem Vinyl und steckt in einer blutgetränkt gestalteten Hülle.
